Scott Bendett is a true entrepreneur – starting, operating, and being involved with many businesses over the last 25 years. Scott graduated from Niskayuna HS and attended the State University of New York at Albany where he wrestled and was a founding father of his school’s chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.
Leaving college before earning a diploma forced Scott to become industrious and entrepreneurial at a young age in order to achieve his goals. Scott founded StockComm, Inc. in 1992, an Investor Relations Firm in Manhattan which was sold upon his moving back to the Capital Region. In 1996, Scott started Habana Premium Cigar Shoppe, which became one of the leading tobacco stores in the country and the largest in Upstate New York. In 1999, Scott founded PipesAndCigars.com in order to complement his brick-and-mortar business. Thirteen years later in 2012 when he sold the website business to Cigars International, PipesAndCigars.com had become the largest retailer of pipes and pipe tobacco in the United States.
Scott has also invested in real estate and consulted with numerous companies throughout the Capital Region and beyond, and continues to share his experience on various boards in the region and the state. He is a Trustee of the Averill Park Education Foundation, a founding member and Vice President of the New York Tobacconist Association, a member of the Town of Sand Lake Zoning Board, and has helped raise millions of dollars for local organizations throughout the Capital Region.
Scott co-founded Schoolhouse Learning, LLC because he saw a need to enrich the lives of students of all ages in our community by providing a safe, convenient, quality experience to help people learn and achieve their goals. Schoolhouse Learning serves a diverse population of students – kids struggling with the Common Core, young adults trying to improve upon their SAT scores, and people of all ages working to increase their knowledge and improve their lives – all at an affordable rate.
Scott is married to his college sweetheart, Claudia – a Nurse Educator at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany. They have two children ages, 14 and 9, and the four of them live in Averill Park with their dog Rocky.
